Folding KLR algebras and cluster categorification

The traditional approach to KLR algebras for non-symmetric types is as a family of algebras given by generators and relations, with no connections to geometry or the canonical basis. I will talk about the other approach, namely considering a symmetric KLR algebra together with a diagram automorphism. An application to cluster algebra structures on quantum coordinate rings will be discussed.
