Hausdorff Geometry of Polynomials and Polynomial Sequences

May 28 - June 1, 2018

Geometry of (univariate) polynomials is a classical topic originated in the studies of C.F. Gauss in the early 19th century and continued by a number of prominent mathematicians since then. In spite of its long history, the topic still offers a number of major tantalising problems including the famous Sendov’s and Smale’s conjectures. The aim of the conference is to bring together leading specialists in the area of geometry of polynomials, asymptotics of polynomial sequences appearing in different areas of mathematics including orthogonal polynomials, potential theory, theory of entire functions, and random matrices. Besides a number of lectures on the topic by the participants, we plan to present several extremely fascinating experiments carried out by a group of researchers at Stockholm University which might lead to novel developments in the area.
