Abstract
The commuting operator framework for quantum systems models locality via commuting operator algebras on a Hilbert space. Originating in mathematical physics, this framework has received increased attention from the quantum information theory community in recent years. The mini-course will consist of an overview of the framework in the bipartite setting, highlighting a number of results across quantum error correction, entanglement transfer, and quantum correlations. An approximate outline is:

Lecture 1: Preliminaries on von Neumann algebraic bipartite systems

Lecture 2: Quantum error correction in von Neumann algebras

Lecture 3: Local operations and entanglement transfer

Lecture 4: Self-testing in the commuting operator framework
