Abstract
In this talk, we introduce a recent progress in proving the existence and non-existence of positive Einstein metrics of cohomogeneity one on series of compact manifolds. We first take the manifold $mathbb{HP}^{m+1}sharp overline{mathbb{HP}}^{m+1}$ as our example. Then we discuss how the analytic technique can be generalized to some other spaces. Tables of manifolds with newly found Einstein metrics are presented at the end of the talk.
