Abstract
Computational medicine serves as a powerful engine for mathematical innovation, posing complex challenges that drive the development of new numerical methods and deepen our understanding of human physiology. At the same time, it offers critical support to clinicians by enabling more accurate diagnoses, tailored therapies, and personalized surgical planning.

This lecture will focus on the multiphysics and multiscale complexities inherent in the mathematical model of the cardiac function, including the impact of data uncertainty, patient variability, and the high-dimensional nature of these systems. We will present the iHEART simulator—a comprehensive model of the human heart that integrates physics-based modeling with data-driven techniques—demonstrating how this hybrid approach can effectively address these challenges and contribute to both scientific insight and clinical practice.
