Abstract
In this talk we address the numerical solution of the Fluid-structure interaction problem in the case of non-conforming meshes at the FS interface. This is of particular interest when we consider an immersed structure. We first introduce an XFEM method adapted to the case of a thich immersed structure, based on doubling the interface d.o.f and exploiting standard basis functions, and introducing a suitable strategy to handle the time evolution. Secondly, we introduce a poly-DG method where instead DG basis functions are built directly on the cut elements, without the need of doubling the d.o.f. For the latter case we also introduce a method to handle the problem of the contact between structures within the fluid. We present both 2D and 3D results of numerical experiments highlighting the suitability of the proposed methods.
