Abstract
The 2002 article “Discontinuous Galerkin methods for incompressible and nearly incompressible elasticity by Nitsche’s method” by Peter Hansbo and Mats Larson introduced the Brezzi-Douglas-Marini spaces as subspaces of the DG spaces in the analysis of their method. This led later on to the development of divergence conforming DG methods as prominent example of pressure robust discretizations for incompressible flow. In this presentation, we trace back some stages of this history and review some of the results obtained.
