Juan Antonio Valiente Kroon: Spatial infinity and the conformal Einstein field equations: past, present and future

Abstract
In this talk I will revisit Helmut Friedrich’s pioneering work to understand the behaviour of solutions to the Einstein field equations in a neighbourhood of spatial infinity and its consequences for the asymptotics at null infinity. Further, I will discuss the connections of this programme to current developments making use of methods of Melrose’s school of microlocal analysis. I will conclude by exploring the implications of this body of work to the programme of celestial holography.
