Abstract
Using recent developments in spectral domain decomposition methods, an overlapping interface method is introduced which uses H-matrix techniques for the construction of the interface maps. Due to the second kind Fredholm character of the underlying continuum map, a condition number bound for the resulting global system independent of the local discretizations can be found. The accuracy and efficiency of the proposed scheme are demonstrated.
In the second part of the talk, some open problems concerning non-overlapping spectral domain decomposition methods will be discussed.
