Abstract
I will present the nearby Lagrangian conjecture from symplectic topology and some connection with Waldhausen’s manifold approach to algebraic K-theory of spaces, as was first discovered by Kragh and developed in a joint work with Abouzaid, Guillermou and Kragh. This goes via the classical notion of generating functions, an early tool in symplectic topology, which relates properties of Lagrangian/Legendrian submanifolds with parametrized Morse theory or pseudo-isotopy theory. If time permits, I will explain how this leads to strong constraints on the stable Lagrangian Gauss map of a nearby Lagrangian.
